Rabbi Louis Sachs of Beth Tikvah Synagogue in Toronto will be the guest teacher for this class. He will discuss the issue of some Orthodox Jews covering up history because it doesn’t jive with their modern sensibilities, like editing images of women out of newspaper photographs or using Photoshop to put kippot on images of great rabbis — i.e., altering factual documented moments of history that were totally fine and kosher 20 years ago but have now become “forbidden” because of the extremism that has become a part of some Orthodox groups.
